Larry selects grapes for harvest from locations throughout Buoy Vineyards for their robust, jammy flavors characteristic of his Merlot. Small amounts of Malbec, and/or other blending may be introduced to the profile once the juice has settled down and is contemplating its fate. Aging and blending take place in stainless tanks with oak staves judicously added to provide tannins and complexity to the wine. As one taster put it: "Smooooth." Current Releases: 2003 - $24 |
Syrah Grapes for this wine are typically selected from Buoy and Rivers Bend Vineyards, located approximately 1/4 mile apart and managed by Farmer Bob. Different soils, sun exposure, and micro-climates create profiles that complementeach other. Aging occurs in stainless steel tanks with the introduction of French oak staves to round out - not overwhelm - the full, dark fruit and spicey flavors of Sleeping Dog Syrah. Current Releases: 2003 & 2004 - $18 |
Malbec Larry started working with Malbe as a blending grape. Customers have made it a popular stand-alone wine. It's a BIG one! Dark, deep purple color with a georgous magenta rim. This vineyard is directly across from our driveway, so the grapes get lots of attention. Production is very limited - about 30 cases each of Malbec and dry Rose. Current Releases: 2005 Pure Malbec -$30 2007 Malbec Rose -$16 |
Sauvignon Blanc Each year, Larry chooses specific rows depending on the flavors that emerge throughout the growing season. Fermentation and aging take place in small stainless steel tanks. The journey to the bottle is guided with a commitment to honoring the tropical-stonefruit and apple nuances characteristic of Buoy Sauvignon Blanc. Current Releases: 2005, 2006 Dry - $15 2005 Late Harvest - $16 2006 Sweet Aurora - $16 |
